This picture really takes me back, to a time when being a kid meant freedom.
That's me on the right, in the cute little denim shorts, just checking out what was going on in the grown-ups' world. Hanging out on the water was one of my family's favourite pastimes. It was parents, kids, uncles and aunts, family friends. It was chaos. It was such fun.
My sister Christie and I loved to play at being explorers, jumping ship between Dad's boat and Uncle Ian's, which more often than not was tied up next door. The grown-ups would have their own fun, chatting and drinking, relaxing in the sun. It was always a magical mix of calm and excitement – peaceful, but without much semblance of control!
